⭐️ Salesforce Marketing Cloud Latest Interview Questions!
✅ Can you explain the difference between Entry Source and Entry Event in Journey Builder?
My Answer -
In my understanding, the Entry Source is where the data actually comes from, like a Data Extension, API, or Salesforce Data. It’s basically the source that pushes contacts into the journey.
The Entry Event is how I configure that source inside the journey. This is where I apply filters, rules, and scheduling to decide which contacts should enter and when they should enter. So I think of it as the logic layer on top of the source.
✅ How do you export tracking data in Salesforce Marketing Cloud?
My Answer -
I usually export tracking data using Automation Studio. I write SQL queries on system Data Views like Sent, Open, _Click, etc., and store the results in a Data Extension.
After that, I use a File Transfer Activity to export the data to an FTP or another external system. I also prefer to schedule this automation so the data gets exported regularly without manual effort.
✅ What is Field Mapping in Journey Builder Entry Sources?
My Answer -
Field Mapping is how I connect fields from the entry source, like a Data Extension, to Contact Builder attributes.
I make sure that important fields like Contact Key and Email Address are mapped correctly so the journey can use the right data for personalization and sending messages. If mapping is incorrect, the journey can fail or behave unexpectedly.
✅ What happens if a contact tries to re-enter a journey where re-entry is not allowed?
My Answer -
If a contact tries to enter again and re-entry is disabled, I know that the system will simply skip that contact.
The journey checks the re-entry settings, and since the contact has already gone through the journey, it won’t allow them to enter again. So no duplicate entry happens in this case.
✅ What is Path Optimizer in Journey Builder?
My Answer -
Path Optimizer is something I use when I want to test different versions of a journey path.
It allows me to split the audience into multiple paths and compare performance based on metrics like open rate or click rate. Based on the results, I can identify which path performs better and use that for future campaigns.
